iPod Video 5th Generation (30gb, 60gb, or 80gb) & iPod Classic 6th Generation (80gb, 120gb, or 160gb)

To identify if you have 5th or 6th generation iPod, see Apple’s website. The only model that occurs in both is 80gb. 5th generation has plastic faceplate, 6th has metal/aluminum faceplate.

Note: iPod must operate normally besides the symptoms listed below.

Fixable symptoms:

• Hold switch does not work (lock icon will not appear or appears sporadically)

• Music plays from one headphone

• Broken or cracked LCD

• Center button is pushed in

• Battery doesn’t hold a charge

• Cracked or damaged faceplate housing or backplate housing – Makes iPod look brand new!

iPod Touch 2nd Generation (8gb, 16gb, or 32gb) & iPod Touch 3rd Generation (8gb, 32gb, or 64gb)

To identify if you have 2nd or 3rd generation iPod Touch, see Apple’s website. Model number: A1288 = 2G and A1318 = 3G (to view the model number go to Utilities → About → Model Number).

Note: iPod must operate normally besides the symptoms listed below.

Fixable symptoms:

• Glass screen digitizer is cracked or broken (has dead spots)

• LCD is cracked or broken

• Home button is difficult to press or operates sporadically

• Headphone jack plays only from one side

• Battery doesn’t hold a charge

• Power (hold) button is “pushed in” and operates with difficulty or not at all

iPod 4th Generation (8gb, 16gb, 32gb, or 64gb)

• Back panel replacement

• Headphone jack replacement

• Home button repair

• Power and volume button repair

• Battery replacement

iPhone 3G (8gb or 16gb) & iPhone 3Gs (16gb or 32gb)

Three ways to identify if you have 3G or 3Gs: visit Apple’s website; 3G does not have video capture capability when using camera, 3Gs does; 3Gs has GPS with turn by turn navigation.
